If you’re serious about your fitness and you want a GPS sportwatch that can keep up with you, then you should take a look at the new Garmin Forerunner 735XT with wrist-based heart rate.

The lightweight multisport watch has a sleek design with soft comfortable silicone bands and a large colour display to easily view your stats in the middle of a rugged training session.

The Garmin Forerunner 735XT has 24/7 heart rate monitoring and built-in activities including running, cycling, swimming, multisport, hiking, cross country skiing, strength training, paddle sports and cardio.

With the Elevate wrist heart rate technology, the Forerunner 735XT allows you to have accurate heart rate monitoring without wearing a chest strap.

But for those who want to dive deeper and get even more serious about their training, you can still add a chest strap to receive data like stride length, ground contact time balance and vertical ratio.

The Forerunner 735XT is also compatible with the Vector pedal-based power metre system and the full line-up of Varia cycling awareness accessories for more cycling capabilities.

And because its fully waterproof to a depth of 50m, the device can be used in the pool when you’re swimming and it will even guide users through a swim workout.

And you can transition between sports at the press of a button or by using the auto multisport feature.

The Forerunner 735XT also links with Garmin’s Connect IQ to monitor your stats on a browser dashboard or with an app.

You can track your workouts and your sleep patterns as well as join online challenges to compete with friends and earn fitness badges.

From Connect IQ, users can also download free watch faces, custom apps and other widgets.

It’s a smartwatch as well and, when paired with your smartphone, can display notifications about incoming calls, texts, emails, calendar reminders and social media alerts.

The Garmin Forerunner 735XT has a battery life of up to 14 hours in training mode running GPS and 11 days in watch mode.

It is available with a black and gray strap or midnight blue and frost blue and is priced at $699.

Additional bands can be purchased for $49.
