stmipadair2It didn’t take long after the iPad Air was revealed before Australian companies like STM and Cygnett announced new cases to fit Apple’s brand new device.

The iPad Air has had a significant redesign from the previous version and is now thinner and lighter than the fourth generation product.

The frame on either side of the 9.7-inch screen is 43 per cent thinner and the 7.5mm thickness is now the same as that of the iPad Mini.

As a result case designers have had to come up with brand new cases and covers to fit the new iPad Air by the time it goes on sale on November 1.

STM has unveiled a brand new range of products for the new iPad – the Cape ($49.95), Studio ($59.95 iPad Air, $49.95 iPad Mini) and Grip 2 ($69.95 iPad Air, $59.95 iPad Mini).

The Cape combines a sleek shell case and water resistant fabric to protect the device while the Studio has a wrap design that can also lock the iPad Air when it is closed.

The STM Grip for iPad Air and iPad Mini takes the trademark ridged surface and adds a kick stand so it can give users the best angle and protection to suit the situation.

Cygnett has announced a number of new cases and covers for the iPad Air and the iPad Mini including the Archive ($69.95), Node ($39.95), Cache ($59.95), Paradox Sleek ($49.95), Paradox Texture ($59.95), the Paradox Lux ($79.95) and the Vintage ($79.95).

The Vintage has a classic design with a stand for viewing and working along with a magnetic strap to keep the cover closed.

The Archive is a dual view stand case and is crafted from high quality materials while the Node is a basic folio case made of hard-wearing woven fibre material.

The Paradox range of Cygnett cases have a folding stand design which can be arranged in a number of heights and angles to suit the task at hand.
