Sharp releases new bigger screen LCD televisions
For Sharp it’s go big or go home with its new LCD TV range which now includes 60-inch and 70-inch models to address the growing desire for larger screens.
Sharp says 60 is the new 40. 60-inches that is.
The premium LC-60LE951X ($3,999) and the LC-70LE951X ($6,499) smart TVs have an elegant design which include narrow aluminium bezels and a graphical user interface.
Viewers can not only watch TV programs but also access content from the internet and surf the web on the big screen.
It’s also possible to link Android tablets and smartphones using the new MHL (mobile high-definition link) features to share their own content to the screen and enjoy a second screen experience.
But apart from being big on size they’re also big on picture quality and include Sharp’s proprietary Quattron and AquoMotion and new LED backlight technology that combine to deliver improved response time, contrast and clarity.
On the audio side there’s also 3D Yamaha and 2D SRS Surround sound.
Users can take advantage of the USB-REC function and use an external USB hard disk drive to record their favourite shows and play them back on the crisp LCD screen.
These models are available in stores now.
Sharp can also provide a more affordable big screen experience with the LC60LE650X ($2,299) and the LC70LE650X ($4,199) which will go on sale in October.
They have less of the smarts of the premium models but similar picture and audio quality.
4K is also part of the Sharp roadmap and Tech Guide got a chance to inspect the new LC-70UD1X which has an ultra high definition resolution of 3840 x 2160.
With four times the resolution of a full high definition TV, the Sharp 70-inch 4K TV is the world’s first to gain a THX certification.
This model introduces Sharp’s edge LED backlighting and AquoMotion Ultra High Definition to reduce motion judder and provide sharp pictures and excellent contrast.
The LC-70UD1X is also a smart TV and has a Flash-enabled Web browser for enhanced internet surfing on the big screen along with the ability to run apps including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Skype.
Sharp has also introduced new 32-inch and 42-inch LCD TVs with a curved design to aim the television’s speakers directly at the viewer.
Apart from full high definition pictures, the LC-32LE355X ($549) and LC-40LE355X ($899) also produces crystal clear sound to enhance your viewing of movies, TV shows and sporting events. They are available now.
