Sony releases Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra smartphones and SmartWatch 2

xperiaifa2Sony has revealed the new Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra smartphones along with a new smartwatch in Berlin ahead of the IFA consumer tech tradeshow.

The Xperia Z1 brings together the best of Sony technologies in a 5-inch Android device that’s slim, light and waterproof and with a 20.7-megapixel camera.

Sony’s new Xperia Z Ultra has a huge 6.4-inch screen making it the world’s largest and slimmest full high definition smartphone display.

Both products incorporate Sony’s Triluminos display and X-Reality technology for enhanced picture quality.

The Sony SmartWatch 2 is the first device of its type to include one-touch NFC (near field communication) functionality.

XPERIA Z1

Sony’s new Xperia Z1 is as much a camera as it a smartphone with the award-winning G Lens with a 27mm wide angle and a custom made large CMOS 20.7 megapixel image sensor.

This brings compact digital camera features and quality to the Z1 device with the ability to capture sharp and bright images even in low light conditions.

The Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone is just 8.5mm thick

It is just 8.5mm thick and weighs 169g and

Optus and Virgin Mobile have already confirmed they will be offering Sony’s Xperia Z1 with pre-orders starting next week.

XPERIA Z ULTRA

This is the first smartphone to incorporate Sony’s full high definition Triluminos display for mobile.

Onboard is a 2.2Ghz quad-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra smartphone has a 6.4-inch screen and is just 6.5mm thick

It is just 6.5mm thick and weighs 212g.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra will be available from Sony online from Monday September 9.

SMARTWATCH 2

The Sony SmartWatch 2 has a 1.6-inch screen and can relay your calls, messages, emails and access apps right there on your wrist with your Xperia smartphone still resting in your pocket.

The Sony SmartWatch 2

The battery can last up to four days even with regular use and, like the Xperia smartphones, it is also waterproof.
