Motorola and LG reveal stylish new smartwatches

motolg1Motorola and LG have both unveiled stylish new smartwatches that look more like designer timepieces than wearable technology.

Motorola’s Moto 360 will be released in the US summer in the middle of the year and features a circular screen to make it look more like a traditional watch.

Running a version of the Android operating system called Android Wear, the Moto X incorporates the Google Now assistant app that can relay relevant information like weather, schedules, travel time to your next meeting and other updates like sport scores right to your wrist.

Google is inviting developers to download a beta version of Android Wear to create new apps and tailor existing apps for the device by the time the Moto 360 is officially released.

Users will be able to also read emails and text messages using the device and reply by talking to the device thanks to the built-in voice-to-text technology.

The Moto 360 will also be utilised as a health and activity monitor as well.

LG, meanwhile, has unveiled the G Watch that features a square face and will also be running Google’s Android Wear operating system.

LG has been a Google partner producing the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 with the internet giant and it appears that relationship has extended to wearables.
