LG and Google team up to release latest Nexus 5 smartphone
LG has partnered with Google again to produce the next Nexus smartphone that features the latest Android operating system and an even slimmer design.
The Nexus 5 has a 5-inch full high definition IPS (in-plane switching) screen which looks good no matter what angle you’re looking at it.
The display has 445ppi (pixels per inch) with new in-cell touch technology that offers even smoother touch recognition along with increased brightness to make it easy to read even in bright sunlight.
Below the surface is a blistering Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.26Ghz quad core processor to make it fast and responsive.
The Nexus 5 is also the first smartphone in the world to feature the brand new Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
Among the new features of KitKat is the contact dialler that groups your frequently dialled contacts and Google Contact ID which can match an incoming number with a business even if the number isn’t listed in your address book.
The device also has an 8-megepixel camera on board along with a front 1.3-megapixel camera.
“LG and Google’s first collaboration, the Nexus 4, delivered significant sales in the region so we’re excited to be partnering with Google once again to build on this success,” said Lambro Skropidis, Marketing General Manager for LG Electronics Australia.
“Nexus 5 offers ground-breaking functionality in a modern design, and is a testament to the level of innovation that can be generated when two companies such as LG and Google come together for a second time.”
LG and Google first worked together in the hugely successful Nexus 4 but they have now raised the bar for this new model.
Nexus 5 is 8.59mm thick and weighs 130g and will be available from this month.
It is priced at $399 (16GB) and $449 (32GB). It is available in black or white.
