Sony finally reveals PlayStation 4 and Australian pricing
Sony’s PlayStation 4 console has finally been unveiled at Electronic Entertainment Expo and will be priced at $549 when it is released in Australia.
This is significantly more expensive than the attractive US price tag of just $US399
The device, revealed at the E3 press conference in Los Angeles, has a monolithic design with a slanted top and bottom edge and with the ability to stand it upright or flat.
Sony has actually undercut Microsoft’s Xbox One price of $US499 which was announced before the PlayStation 4 press conference began. In Australia the Xbox One will be priced at $599.
Also unveiled at the special media event was a host of new games designed to take advantage of the advanced computing power of the new console.
These include exclusive titles like Killzone: Shadow Fall, Drive Club, Infamous Second Son and The Order: 1886.
Unlike the Xbox One, Sony’s PS4 will not place a restriction on used games which means players will be able to continue to trade in their old games and lend them to their friends.
There are more than 30 PlayStation 4 games in development.
