Sony unveils SmartWatch 3, SmartBand Talk and compact tablet at IFA

sonyifa14wearables3Sony has extended its range of wearable devices at the IFA consumer tech trade show in Berlin with the introduction of the SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk.

Sony has also unveiled the Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet – an 8-inch version of the sleek Xperia Z2 tablet.

These new smartwear devices can tap into the Sony Lifelog Android app which can track your lifestyle and bookmark memorable moments and experiences.

SONY SMARTWATCH 3

The latest generation of Sony’s smartwatch has a smoother and more rounded design with improved features across the board starting with the 1.6-inch 320 x 320 TFT LCD screen.

The SmartWatch 3 is running the new Android Wear operating system designed by Google for wearables and brings all of your notifications and information from your smartphone seamlessly to your wrist.

Also onboard the device is GPS functionality to track your runs, a built-in microphone, accelerometer and compass.

The device has an internal memory of 4GB so you can sync playlists to the product and listen wirelessly with Bluetooth headphones.

And of course the SmartWatch 3 is waterproof with an IP68 rating and has a regular microUSB port on board for charging.

The Sony SmartWatch 3 will be available in classic black or sport lime with other colour straps in pink and white available after launch.

SONY SMARTBAND TALK

The Sony SmartBand Talk has a 1.4-inch e-ink screen which uses little power yet provides a crisp and clear viewing even in the brightest conditions.

The band can keep track of your activities including running and walking as well viewing all of the notifications from your smartphone with ease.

Sony’s new SmartBand Talk gets its name because it also has a built-in microphone with HD voice support to make and receive calls on the move when your phone is out of reach.

It is fully waterproof and also works with Sony’s Lifelog app to take note of the memorable things you do during the day.

At launch the Sony SmartBand Talk will be available in black and white with other colours to be released later in the year.

SONY XPERIA Z3 TABLET COMPACT

Sony has brought its range of smartphones and tablet features into one product – the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact – the world’s slimmest and lightest 8-inch device.

The device is just 6.4mm thick and weighs 270g and has the same sleek design of the larger Xperia Z2 tablet.

Under the hood is the world’s fastest processor found on a compact tablet – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core 2.5Ghz processor.

Also onboard are the features found in the Xperia Z3 smartphones including Triluminos display technology, high quality audio performance and PS4 Remote Play.

It has an 8.1-megapixel camera with the Exmor RS sensor for mobile to capture superior images and includes social camera features like Multi-Camera and live streaming to YouTube.

The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is also fully waterproof and has a long-life battery that can handle 13 straight hours of video playback.
