sonysmartband4Sony has become the latest company to offer an activity band with the SmartBand SWR10 wearable device now available in stores.

Designed to be worn 24/7 and linked via Bluetooth to any Android smartphone, the Sony SmartBand SWR10 is a product that can help users log their lives.

The device is available in a number of colours and has an adjustable strap to fit your wrist.

There is also a removable core that contains the sensor and the whole thing has a waterproof rating of IP58 so the SWR10 can be worn anywhere around the clock.

It can keep track of whatever you’re doing and also assist with communication and entertainment.

Moments can be logged using the SWR10 and then displayed on the Lifelog Android app on a smartphone or tablet.

On the movement side, the device can keep track of walking, running and the number of steps taken each day along with the calories you’ve eaten as well.

It’s easy to set challenges and goals to stay motivated to achieve the results you want or to test yourself.

The Sony SmartBand can also monitor the quality of your sleep and even wake you with a silent vibrating alert when you’ve had enough sleep.

Users can also be alerted to calls, texts and other notifications with a vibrating alarm on their wristband.

When listening to music on the move, the Sony SmartBand SWR10 also allows you to control playback to play, pause and skip tracks.

The Lifelog app offers many features to extend the use for the Sony SmartBand SWR10 beyond that of its many competitors.

Rather than focussing just on activity and notifications, the SWR10 – backed by the Lifelog app – can also bookmark life’s special moments.

A press of the Life Bookmark button on the band and it will create a new entry in the Lifelog app to remember a great meal, a favourite song, a memorable movie, a beautiful sunset or anything else.

Later you can add pictures and edit the text so that the Life Bookmark is remembered forever.

The Sony SmartBand SWR10 is priced at $159 and is available now through Telstra stores, Sony stores and kiosks with availability through major retailers coming soon.

Telstra customers can buy the SWR10 outright for $159 or add it to their mobile plan with an Accessory Repayment Option for $39 upfront and then $5 a month for 24 months – which still adds up to $159.
