Toshiba unveils Kira the luxury laptop

kira1Toshiba has released Kira – a new luxury ultrabook computer – which is crafted from premium materials and sporting a sleek design.

The company has combined design and performance to make a statement and provide customers with a “top shelf” option.

The Windows 8 device has a 13.3-inch ultra high resolution PixelPure display, a backlit keyboard and Harman Kardan stereo speakers.

It is crafted from a magnesium alloy with a honeycomb base which offers strength but is also lightweight. The device weighs just 1.21kg.

And while the device is attractive from the outside it also has some impressive features under the hood.

It is powered by the 3rd generation Intel Core processors with 8GB of 1600Mhz RAM and a 256GB SSD (solid state drive).

Also included with the Toshiba Kira is Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 software for photo and video editing.

The Kira is also available with a touchscreen option that is fingerprint resistant and utilises 10-point multi-touch. With the touchscreen the device’s weight is slightly higher at 1.35kg.

Customers who purchase the Toshiba Kira will receive “white glove” service which includes two years manufacturers warranty with on-site metro and courier pickup/delivery in regional areas.

There is also a special hotline service just for Kira owners.

The Toshiba Kira is available now with Intel Core i5 or i7 processors in three configurations starting at $1799 and $2199 for the touchscreen option.
