  • VERDICT
Pros
  • Easy to set up
  • Interact with your smart TVs
  • Trackpad and good key layout
  • Not too big, ideal for use in the couch
Cons
  • Does not have backlit keys

The Logitech K600 is a versatile keyboard that is a welcome companion for our smart TVs and that will also work with our PCs and mobile devices.

With the rise in the number of smart TVs there are now more opportunities to interact and now that’s been made even easier with the Logitech K600 TV Keyboard.

The K600 connects with the latest smart TVs from Samsung and LG which already have Bluetooth on board.

But it’s possible to link other televisions using the included Bluetooth dongle to connect the keyboard.

It can also be used like a regular keyboard with your laptop, desktop computer and mobile devices well.

Over Bluetooth, the K600 will work with Windows and Mac computers along with the Tizen operating system of a recent Samsung Smart TV as well as android 5.0 and later and iOS 5 and later.

When connecting via the Unifying dongle, it will work with Windows, Mac, LG TV’s webOS, Tizen and Chrome OS.

Setup is simple with just a three-step process with the last step involving navigating to Logitech set up website on your TV.

We were up and running in just a few minutes.

The K600 offers a full keyboard along with a trackpad on the right side as well as directional keys and shortcuts down the left side.

Once connected, the Logitech keyboard offers easy navigation of your screen and the full keyboard makes text entry a breeze.

Shortcut keys on the left side can emulate left and right mouse clicks which makes it easier to navigate the TVs browser and built-in apps.

The keyboard is just the right size to be used while sitting on a couch in front of the television.

It can balance nicely in your lap with all the keys and controls and the trackpad literally at your fingertips.

The keys are round and well spaced for easy typing.

The K600 has a 15m range so will easily stay connected even in the largest rooms.

Anyone who’s ever tried to enter their email address or a complicated password a letter at a time using the TVs remote control will understand how frustrating that can be.

The Logitech K600 TV Keyboard comes to the rescue beautifully and now makes it even easier to navigate and interact with your smart television.

The trackpad makes scrolling sites as easy as you would on your laptop all with a desktop mouse also providing accurate cursor control when clicking links and entering text.

The integrated D-Pad also comes into play when navigating grid interfaces while the media keys allow you to take advantage of playing, pausing, forwarding and rewinding the content you’re watching.

It’s easy to switch between up to three devices at the touch of a button including your computer and your smartphone or tablet when you need to fire off a text message or answer an email.

But one feature we would have liked was backlit keys.

During our review we were using the K600 at night watching TV and we found it hard to see the individual keys of the keyboard.

We actually had to use our phone as a light to make sure we were hitting the right keys.

This is not an issue when using the trackpad because you use it while watching the screen but if we had to type something it was difficult in the low light conditions.

Having backlit keys would have made the product more expensive but it would have saved us from having to turn on the lights to use it.

The Logitech K600 is powered by two AAA batteries (which are included) which will provide up to 12 months of power.

Logitech’s K600 TV Keyboard will be available in the coming days and will be priced at $99.95.

VERDICT

The Logitech K600 is a versatile keyboard that is a welcome companion for our smart TVs and that will also work with our PCs and mobile devices.
