Sony issues safety warning on Bravia LCD TVs

Sony has issued a warning about its 40-inch Bravia LCD TVs sold between 2007 and 2008 because there is a risk they can overheat and ignite.

Customers who have purchased the TV can contact Sony to arrange a free inspection.

There have been no reports of damage or injury to date but Sony is pressing ahead with the customer programme and offering free repairs if necessary.  

The models, sold from mid 2007 through to late 2008, which have been affected are:

KDL – 40X3100


 KDL – 40W3100

Customers can call Sony’s Contact Centre on 1300 137 669 to arrange a free inspection of their Bravia TV.

The issue came to Sony Australia’s attention in a report from Sony Corporation in Japan and it has set up this programme as a precaution.
