Foxtel on Samsung smart TVs available now

Foxtel is now available for customers to view directly on their compatible Samsung smart TVs. The partnership, exclusively revealed by Tech Guide in January, means up to 30 Foxtel live streaming channels can be viewed on Samsung’s range of smart TVs without the need for any additional set-box or console.

The available Foxtel channels include Fox 8, Discovery, Footy Play powered by Fox Sports, Showcase, ESPN and Cartoon Network.

“Our partnership with Samsung is part of a plan to broaden our distribution through other platforms and is an opportunity to reach even more people,” Jim Rudder, Foxtel Executive Director of Product said,

“As the quality of the TV experience over broadband has improved, people have become more willing to consume content in different ways and as such it presents a great opportunity to distribute our programs that wasn’t previously there.

“With the explosion of connected devices now upon us, this opportunity is only going to grow, and it’s something we believe is highly complementary to our existing service.”

As part of the service launch, customers who buy a participating Samsung smart TV before September 2 will be eligible for a free three-month subscription to the Foxtel by Internet TV service which also includes channels like MTV, Nickelodeon, LifeStyle You, National Geographic and Sky News.

Customers will also be able to choose from other packages for movies, sports and entertainment. Information about the range of packages can be found at www.foxtel.com.au/internettv/packages.

The Foxtel by Internet TV service is accessed through a home broadband connection and can be viewed after downloading the Foxtel app to the Samsung smart TV.

The service is delivered in standard definition and will impact on the home’s monthly download data allowance. BigPond broadband customers can enjoy the service unmetered.

Existing Samsung smart TV owners can visit www.samsung.com.au to check if their TV is compatible with the service.
