Vodafone to offer HTC Desire Z this month
Vodafone will this month launch the HTC Desire Z – an Android smartphone which combines a touchscreen with a slide-out physical keyboard.
The device has a 3.7-inch display and has a unique pop hinge design which allows users to quickly access the qwerty keyboard for those longer messages.
Available from mid-March, the HTC Desire Z also has a 5 megapixel camera which can record HD video at 720p resolution.
The HTC Desire Z has a 800Mhz Qualcomm 7230 processor on board which means it’s fast while a microSD slot can expand the product’s internal 1.5GB memory.
As will all of HTC’s devices, the Desire Z has the HTC Sense software layer above the Android operating system so users can easily personalise the device and aggregate social network feeds into one easy-to-view stream.
Users can also register their Desire Z at HTCSense.com so they can manage their mobile remotely, divert calls to another phone if they’ve forgotten it at home or in the office and wipe the phone if it gets lost.
There’s also GPS on board with the connectivity options including 3G, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
One of the most interesting features on the Desire Z is HTC Fast Boot which, as its name suggests, allows users to turn on the device and have it ready to make or receive calls in just five seconds.
Pricing on the HTC Desire Z has yet to be announced by Vodafone.
