Vodafone and Optus announce iPhone 5 plans and pricing

iphone 5 34hi stagger frontback black printVodafone and Optus have just announced their iPhone 5 plans and pricing ahead of the highly anticipated September 21 launch of the new Apple device.

Vodafone has outlined what appears to be two entry-level plans for the iPhone 5 16GB model.

The first is a $60 plan plus a monthly $6 handset charge for a total monthly cost of $66 which gives customers $700 included value, infinite calls to Vodafone and 4 customers, infinite text and 1GB of data.

Next is a plan that’s $0 upfront on an $80 monthly plan which offers infinite national calls, infinite mobile calls to Vodafone and 3 infinite text plus 2GB of data.

Vodafone also pointed out that data used for FaceTime calls, which can be done over 3G with the iPhone 5, will come out of the monthly data allowance and not charged separately. The same thing applies for Visual Voicemail.

Optus plans for the iPhone 5 start at just $48 a month for the iPhone 5 16GB on a $30 plan with an $18 per month handset fee.

On that contract, customers only receive $200 of included value, 200MB of data, unlimited use social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, eBay and LinkedIn and unlimited SMS.

The iPhone 5 will be released September 21

The top Optus Timeless plan is $0 upfront at $129 a month for 4GB data, unlimited calls, unlimited texts and unlimited social networking access.

Optus also has $89 and $99 a month Timeless plans with unlimited calls, texts and social networking access with 2GB and 3GB data respectively.

For the 16GB iPhone 5 it is $0 upfront, the 32GB is $0 on the $89 plan and $5 upfront on the $99 plan.

The monthly handset charge of the iPhone 5 64GB on the $89 and $99 Timeless plans is $3 and $9 respectively.
