Samsung racing the clock with fingerprint sensor issues on the Galaxy S5

Samsung has run into trouble as it prepares to bring their new Galaxy S5 smartphone to market after discovering issues with the new fingerprint sensor.

The fingerprint reader under the home button was one of the key new features of the Galaxy S5 that was unveiled at a huge media event during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Samsung was reportedly experiencing problems making enough working fingerprint sensors themselves in time for the rumoured April 11 worldwide launch of the device.

The Korean electronics giant is said to be looking to third party vendors to meet the demands of production ahead of the April release.

According to reports Samsung thought it would be able to handle the development and production of the fingerprint sensors as soon as the company decided to include the feature in the Galaxy S5 in its forward planning.

But with production now in full swing it appears they have called in other manufacturers to maintain the production schedule while maintaining its typically high production standards.

The Galaxy S5 will have a 5.1-inch screen with a quad core 2.5Ghz processor, 4.4.2 Android KitKat operating system and 16-megapixel camera.
