Optus will be the first Australian carrier to offer the latest BlackBerry Bold 9900 and the just-announced BlackBerry Torch 9860.

The devices are available for pre-order through Optus now and will be available from early September.

Both devices will be offering the new BlackBerry 7 operating system and will be powered by the fast 1.2Ghz processor.

“We’re excited that Optus customers can be among the first in the world to get their hands on these fantastic BlackBerry smartphones,” said Ausin R Bryan, director of Optus Digital Media.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 and the BlackBerry 9860 both offer slick new designs which, when combined with the new BlackBerry 7 operating system, offer an improved user experience whether it’s for work or play.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 maintains the look of the Bold range but with a slimmer design that’s just 10.5m  thick along with a toughened glass body.

This updated model features the ever reliable physical qwerty keyboard and, for the first time, adds a touchscreen to the mix.

The device was first unveiled at BlackBerry World in Orlando earlier this year.

The Torch 9860 combines a slide-up touchscreen and a full physical keyboard to combine the best of both worlds for users who use the device at work and at play.

This latest addition to the BlackBerry family was revealed for the first time yesterday.

Both of the devices come pre-loaded with the new BlackBerry Messenger 6 (BBM 6) for easy, and free, BlackBerry to BlackBerry communication.

Optus customers can pre-order the devices here.
