Apple may unveil new iPhone on September 10

iphone5entryApple’s latest iPhone along with and a possible cheaper entry level model, is likely to be unveiled in a special media event in San Francisco on September 10.

The date was announced by respected site AllThingsD citing inside sources with knowledge of the event.

According to the strong rumours, Apple will announce a device that’s almost identical to the current iPhone 5.

If Apple follows previous releases the new iPhone will be called the iPhone 5S which will have the same 4-inch screen, the latest iOS 7 operating system and a higher resolution camera.

Another rumoured feature is a sapphire-glass covered home button which will incorporate a fingerprint reader for added security.

And it will possibly be available in an additional gold colour option to go with the traditional black and white models.

Also expected to be unveiled is a more affordable device believed to be called the iPhone 5C.

It will have the same size screen as the iPhone 5S with a plastic covered rear panel that will be available in a number of colours.

To ensure the iPhone 5C can be offered at a cheaper price and not threaten market share of the premium iPhone 5S, the lower price model is likely to not include Siri, have a lower resolution camera and will not have the rumoured fingerprint reader.

Apple has not confirmed any of these reports nor has it confirmed the September 10 date.

If the new iPhone is actually announced on September 10 it will probably go on sale about 10 days later.
