Apple apologises and issues iOS 8.0.2 software fix for iPhone bug

iphone6thumb2Apple has apologised to customers and released a fix for the iOS 8.0.1 software update bug that disabled some iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices.

According to Apple there were less than 40,000 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices affected from the more than 10 million sold since launch last week.

The iOS 8.0.2 update, which is available now to download, will fix any issues experience by those who installed the iOS 8.0.1 update.

Users who’d installed the iOS 8.0.1 – which was only available for about an hour before Apple realised there was a problem – found they had no cellular connection and there was an issue with the Touch ID fingerprint reader.

Apple released this statement today:

“iOS 8.0.2 is now available for users, it fixes an issue that affected iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who downloaded iOS 8.0.1, and  includes improvements and bug fixes originally in iOS 8.0.1.

“We apologize for inconveniencing the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who were impacted by the bug in iOS 8.0.1.”

Apple's iOS 8.0.2 will fix the bug of the previous update

To find the software update users can either plug their iPhone into their computer and run the update through iTunes or go through the iPhone’s settings – General > Software Update – to download and install over wi-fi.
