Microsoft reveals the top Bing searches for 2015

Microsoft has revealed Australia’s most popular searches terms through its Bing search engine with the results a clear indicator of the events and people that held Australians interest all year.

The comprehensive report takes a look at the most popular worldwide searches along with the top Australian searches and sport stars and celebrities that we were fascinated with.

The top news and current affairs search was subscription video on demand service Netflix closely followed by Star Wars ahead of the launch of the highly-anticipated Episode VII The Force Awakens in less than two weeks.

In sport, the Cricket World Cup, NRL star turned NFL rookie Jarryd Hayne and the rugby league State of Origin attracted the most searches.

In the royalty and celebrity world Princess Charlotte, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber were the stars.

The events that held our interest according to the volume of Bing searches included the Nepal earthquake and the Paris terrorist attacks.
