How To Stock Up On Style Staples Without Breaking The Bank

We can all agree that it’s always great to have a wardrobe full of amazing clothing. A killer wardrobe has the ability to improve confidence and self esteem and can even make you an overall happier person.

Thankfully, a fantastic wardrobe isn’t something only for the rich or elite to enjoy. If you are budget-conscious or simply someone who is looking to acquire some wardrobe staples without breaking the bank, then this is the article for you.

Today, we share 5 ways you can stock up on closet must-haves without having to max out your credit card. Read on to find out more!

  • Shop Online

Online shopping is now the new norm, which is a great thing considering how many budget-friendly online retailers are operating in 2022. One of the best ways to stock up on style staples is to do most of your shopping digitally. You can shop at Kogan in order to take advantage of special deals and discounts, as well as enjoy the opportunity to rack up Qantas Points almost every month of the year. Additionally, it is now easier than ever to compare prices online and find exclusive promo codes, or even make your shopping work for you by being able to reap credit card rewards points.

Top Tip: When shopping for clothes online, make sure you are aware of your basic measurements and sizes to greatly reduce the chances of something not fitting!

  • Take Advantage Of Sales and Promotions

As a general rule of thumb, budget conscious shoppers should never purchase anything at full price. There are a plethora of various online shopping coupons and promo codes that you can find on a myriad of different websites. Many of these sites even offer specialty extensions that you can install on your internet browser so that you will never miss out on a single deal.

If shopping at a brick and mortar retail establishment, the same rule of never purchasing anything at full price still stands. Whenever possible, take advantage of seasonal sales or end-of-season price slashing to shave a big chunk of change off all of your purchases!

  • Explore Local Op-Shops

If there is one thing all Aussies love, it’s a good op-shop. Exploring your local charity shops can be a great way to find second hand items that cost close to nothing. Strategic or seasoned op-shoppers may even come across some designer pieces that are cheap as chips, allowing them to cultivate a refined wardrobe on a consistently modest fashion budget. Op-shops are great for finding high-quality products, such as sweaters, denim jeans and a variety of accessories, like scarves, hats and belts. The great thing about shopping at your local second hand store is that you are guaranteed to find unique pieces that you may not find elsewhere.

New to op-shopping and not entirely sure where to start? Our top picks are Savers, Vinnies and Sacred Heart Mission.

  • Consider Consignment

If you’re in love with all things designer but aren’t looking to blow thousands of dollars, shopping at a luxury brand consignment store is a budget-conscious fashionista’s dream come true. Luxury consignment stores are home to hundreds of high end pre-loved goods such as handbags, coats, shoes, wallets and more. What’s more, you’ll be able to find pre-loved vintage pieces that regular stores no longer stock.  Aside from potentially saving you a fortune, consignment stores offer a more sustainable way of shopping for those of us who are concerned about our carbon footprint and waste in the fashion industry at large. Mark our words: once you discover the resale market, you’ll never look back.

  • Factory Seconds Bargains

One of our top secrets to looking incredible without having to max out your credit card is to purchase factory seconds. Sometimes referred to as “factory rejects”, these are items of clothing that through minor faults of manufacture, are sold to the public for a heavily discounted price. Many of these “faults” are barely noticeable most of the time, and can be easily fixed by a tailor or even at home, if you’re savvy with a sewing machine. In terms of where to source seconds, you can find them online or at your local factory outlet.

  • Dirt Cheap Basics

Last but not least, you always have the option of shopping from fast fashion outlets if you are looking for dirt cheap staples. Although many people warn against fast fashion due to unsustainability, it can be a great option for those who aren’t able to afford to purchase from more expensive brands. You can easily get basic t-shirts, shirts, shorts, blazers and other basic staples for under $10 at most fast-fashion outlets, but do know that you probably won’t be getting a high quality piece that lasts you a lifetime. This one is last on the list, but still a viable option if money is tight.

___________

And there you have it – 6 practical ways to stock up on style staples without having to break the bank. Being stylish doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, especially if you shop smart and know where to get the best deals.

What are some of your favourite ways to shop on a tight budget? Be sure to leave a comment to let us know!
