Google reveals Australia’s top searches in 2022

2022 was a big year for Australians and that’s reflected with the list of Google’s top searches which highlighted the moments that inspired us, made us more curious and made us want to find out more.

It was both a year of change and of new beginnings including a new Australian government and a new king.

Of course, sport was a big interest along with craft and cooking and we search for Wordle more than anything else.

Australians battled serious and devastating floods and our searches reflected that.

They included “floods”, “La Nina” and “when will the rain stop” in 2022.

The lingering effects of the COVID pandemic were also evident in our searches with questions like “can you get COVID twice” and “how long does COVID last” appearing near the top of the list.

Google search is also one big cookbook and this year we craved dahl, drunken chicken and fish tacos while whipping up EZY sauce and made the typically Aussie jaffle.

On the sports side, the Australian Open was popular with women’s champion Ash Barty becoming the top trending Australian individual in 2022,
