Foxtel to launch internet TV service with no lock-in contracts
Foxtel will introduce a new internet delivered TV service in June called Foxtel Play to allow customers to subscribe by the month with no contract.
Subscribers are able to build their own channel packages which will start from $25 per month.
Users can view the service through smart TVs, computers and gaming consoles.
When Foxtel Play is launched in June there will be more than 40 channels and more than 2000 catch up video on demand titles which will include movies, TV shows, documentaries, kids programs and live sports.
“Foxtel Play is the next step in the evolution of our entertainment offering,” said Foxtel chief executive Richard Freudenstein.
“Our core subscription service, which remains the cornerstone of our business, has recently been augmented by a greatly enlarged On Demand offering and, of course, Foxtel Go, both included for residential subscribers.
“Foxtel Play develops our “off the box” internet TV products by expanding on the existing Foxtel on Xbox 360 and Foxtel on Internet TV services to provide one Foxtel internet TV offering across multiple devices.
“Foxtel Play combines the ease and portability of internet connectivity with fantastic entertainment to welcome a whole new set of customers to Foxtel.”
Foxtel Play will also be accessible over 3G/4G and wi-fi just like the Foxtel Go iPad app. Data charges will apply and video quality may vary depending on the strength of your connection and it is only available to use in Australia.
Packages and full pricing will be released closer to the June launch date.
