Facebook introduces verified pages and profiles
Facebook has taken a leaf out of Twitter’s book and launched verified pages and profiles to establish the genuine identity of celebrities and other high-profile users.
A small white tick inside a blue circle beside a person’s name will signify a verified account on their timelines, in search results and everywhere else on Facebook.
This will give other users an easily visible way to ensure the profile is authentic and not a fake account.
These verifications are identified by Facebook and, like verified accounts on Twitter, cannot be requested by users.
It is assigned to well know public figures like celebrities, journalists, government officials, businesses and popular brands.
