eBay reaches 100 million app downloads
eBay, the popular online auction site, has reached its 100 millionth app download along with the 100 millionth item listed via the mobile platform.
The eBay app is available in eight languages in more than 190 countries and has been download more than 25 million times in the last six months alone.
The success of the eBay app across the major mobile operating systems illustrates the fact that more and more customers are browsing and purchasing products using their smartphone.
Australia is one of the fastest growing regions for mobile shopping because of a combination of high smartphone penetration and the high number of tech savvy shoppers.
eBay’s most recent Online Business Index reports says 46 per cent of Australian eBay businesses are optimising their content for mobile.
Deborah Sharkey, eBay Vice President, said: “Mobile commerce in Australia is growing exponentially as more retailers take advantage of our nation’s high smartphone penetration and on-the-go consumer.”
