Australia Post teams up with Google for online shopping program
Australia Post has partnered with Google in a new pilot program as part of the internet giant’s Trusted Stores beta program to identify desirable online stores.
Google Trusted Stores (GTS) helps identify places that offer a good online shopping experience and on-time shipping.
Australia Post coming on as a partner will mean they can verify shipping times that participating stores will provide to Google as part of the GTS program.
The goal with the program is to help increase consumer confidence in online shopping and to support Australian online retailers.
“Google Trusted Stores is a globally recognised program,” says Australia Post executive general manager, parcels and express services, Richard Umbers.
“Australia Post is proud to be supporting the improvement of the Australian online shopping experience for consumers and online retailers participating in the Australian Google Trusted Stores beta program.”
Australia Post welcomed the partnership with Google as it provides another way for it to stay relevant to those who buy and sell online.
“Working with major global companies such as Google further enhances and supports the work we’re all doing to support online shopping,” said Mr Umbers.
“Our involvement with Google Trusted Stores is a good example of how this kind of partnership can really deliver tangible benefits for small business and online shoppers in Australia.”
Google Trusted Stores was launched in late 2013 in Australia and already includes online stores like Deals Direct, Kogan, Surf Stitch and Milan Direct as the first stores to sign up to the program.
Participation in Google Trusted Stores is free for retailers and shoppers with the pilot to run across Australia until June 2014.
