TomTom releases navigation app for Android

tomtomupdatethumbTomTom has released its popular smartphone navigation app for the Android mobile operating system to download from the Google Play store.

It is available now at a special introductory price of $51.99 which includes free quarterly updates to ensure users have the latest maps on their device.

The TomTom app has been popular on the iPhone and features the same world-class mapping and features seen on the dedicated TomTom GPS devices.

The features of the TomTom Navigation for Android app include:

The TomTom navigation app is now available on Android

Offline mode – even without a signal or data connection users can still access high resolution maps to avoid expensive data roaming charges when travelling.

Lifetime updates – Users can rest assured their maps will be up to date thanks to four free map updates per year.

IQ Routes – work out the fastest route depending on the time of day and offer accurate arrival time estimates.

HD Traffic – live traffic updates so you can avoid traffic snarls. This is available through an in-app purchase.

Multitasking support – maintains turn by turn guidance even if you’re on a phone call.

Advanced Lane Guidance – gives accurate illustrations to navigate complicated junction and advises drivers which lane they need to be in.

Spoken street names – names of streets are spoken to help drivers recognise their next turn and keep their eyes on the road.

The TomTom Navigation Android app works with devices running Android version 2.2 or later and requires a device with a screen resolution of 800 x 480 and 854 x 480 with support coming for higher resolution displays.
