Google unveils some cool Star Wars surprises for fans
Google has revealed some big surprises for true Star Wars fans to celebrate the highly-anticipated release of the blockbuster film Episode VII The Force Awakens next month.
There are some nice Easter eggs that Google has created that tap into some iconic elements of the films.
If you’re a Star Wars fan – they will definitely put a smile on your face.
First up, try this. Type in “a long time ago in a galaxy far far away” into the search box.
What you’ll see is the search results returned in the famous scroll style that has kicked off all six Star Wars movies.
You can check it out here.
Google has also created a Star Wars page that can help you choose if you want to be on the light or the dark side of the Force.
If you choose the dark side you can turn your profile picture red and add the Imperial symbol so you can share it across all of your social media accounts including Google Plus, Facebook and Twitter.
If you choose the light side it will turn your profile picture blue and add the Rebels symbol.
But it doesn’t stop there. Your choice will also be reflected in your Google apps.
In YouTube, the progress bar appears as a lightsabre and in Google maps your location is indicated with either a Tie Fighter or an X-Wing depending on the side you choose.
In Gmail you can also see themed backgrounds as well.
You will also notice changes other apps including Android Wear, Chrome, Chromecast, Google Calendar and Google Now.
And when you’ve had your fun, you can easily return these Google apps back to normal.
You can get started here by choosing your side – the Light side or the Dark Side – here.
