PlayStation Network outage enters fourth day

ps3slimthumbhacker blamed

Sony’s PlayStation Network has now been down for four says with the company finally admitting the fault was due to a hacker.

In its official blog, Sony said the network was shut down after what it called an “external intrusion”.

As a result the many PlayStation 3 users hoping to spend time on the Easter long weekend playing online were disappointed.

Sony is currently trying to rebuild the service and survey the damage, if any, from the “external intrusion”.

In another blog post yesterday Sony said: “Though this task is time-consuming, we decided to provide the system with additional security.”

Also affected by the outage was Qriocity – Sony’s new music streaming service which is available to users with a connected PS3, Bravia TV and other compatible Sony products which can connect to the internet.

The company says it is working around the clock to fix the issue.

“We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project,” the blog said in its latest post.

The PlayStation Network will hopefully be restored in the next day or two.
