It’s not just about TVs and appliances for LG with the company revealing a new curved smartphone and fitness tech products in Las Vegas today
Displayed at LG’s International Consumer Electronics Show press conference today, the G Flex is the world’s first smartphone with a 6-inch curved and flexible OLED screen.
Also on board is the world’s first curved battery that utilises new technology to deliver more power from a smaller unit.
The device’s subtle curve offers a few advantages including better sound quality during calls because it follows the curve of your face.
Music playback is also enhanced because the speakers are positioned above surface when the device is sitting on a desk.
When viewing content on the 6-inch curved display there is also less reflection and it offers a more immersive experience.
It even sits more comfortably in your pocket because of the curve and there’s no risk you’ll break the screen because it is made from flexible Gorilla Glass.
The Lifeband Touch and Heart Rate Earphones are LG’s first entries into the rapidly growing wearable and fitness market.
LG’s Lifeband Touch is an accurate data tracker with a touchscreen OLED display and Bluetooth connectivity with Android and iOS devices.
The device also offer notifications for incoming messages and emails from a connected smartphone.
LG’s Lifeband Touch can also work with existing popular training and fitness apps including Runkeeper, Map My Fitness and My Fitness Pal.
And because it has Bluetooth, the LG LifeBand will be able to constantly relay information to your smartphone so you can see up-to-the-minute activity information.
Heart Rate Earphones have sensors on board that can measure blood flow signals from the inner ear to capture accurate biometric data.
This a lot easier than wearing a traditional heart rate monitor around your chest.
And the LG Heart Rate Earphones will also link wirelessly with the LG Lifeband Touch.
LG’s Lifeband Touch and Heart Rate Headphones will be available in the first half of 2014.
