Modern technology gives us many things.

Kobo Clara HD e-reader lets you enjoy your favourite books in comfort

Rakuten Kobo has launched its latest digital e-reader – the Kobo Clara HD – which includes its latest 6-inch high-definition display and backlighting system so you can read anywhere and anytime.

Kobo Clara HD’s 6-inch display has a high resolution with 300ppi (pixels per inch) to offer a crisp paper-like experience like reading a real book.

The electronic ink screen offers a wide viewing angle with zero reflection even if you are reading in bright sunlight.

It’s also easier on the eyes when compared to backlit LCD screens found in smartphones and tablets.

The on-board ComfortLight Pro makes it possible to read in lower light conditions and at bedtime.

ComfortLight Pro reduces exposure to blue light so the Kobo Clara HD can be used for bedtime reading without affecting your sleep.

The hue of the e-readers light is designed to mimic the sun’s natural progression from cooler to a warmer light.

On the design side, the Kobo Clara HD is the company’s smallest, thinnest and lightest 6-inch e-reader which measures 15.7cm long, 11.1cm wide and just 8.3mm thick and weighing in at just 166g.

The device is customisable for the user to offer a comfortable reading experience,.

TypeGenius allows for readers to set the weight and sharpness of the font with the choice of 11 font types and up to 40 font sizes.

It’s also possible to adjust margins, highlight passages, write notes and look up words using the built-in dictionary.

And, of course, the Kobo Clara HD e-reader is also the store where you can purchase a wide range of books from a catalogue of 6 million titles through the device’s wi-fi connection.

“Our main goal is to empower people to read more, whenever and wherever they want,”  says Michael Tamblyn, CEO, Rakuten Kobo.

“With that, we challenge print-loyal booklovers, and their friends, to try digital reading for just one week.

“We know technology of any kind can take a moment to get used to, but we have made eReading easy, and are convinced they will find they can fit reading into even more parts of their day, whether it’s waiting for the kids at soccer practice, during the lunch break, or during their daily commute.

“In past discussions with print loyalists, they told us they got used to using the eReader by day two or three, and most said they would use it as a complement to their existing reading life.”

The Kobo Clara HD is available now from Myer, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and Angus & Robertson and is priced at $179.95.
