Netgear, the market leader in mesh wi-fi systems, has expanded its WI-Fi 6 portfolio with two new offerings – the Orbi Wi-Fi 6 Mesh and the Nighthawk Mesh Wi-Fi 6 which can meet the needs of the modern connected home.

Wi-Fi 6 is the latest standard in wireless connectivity with a fourfold increase in capacity as well as a 40 per cent increase in throughput that means you can have more devices connected to your network and faster streaming for gaming and entertainment.

“Now more than ever, reliable connectivity is no longer a luxury, rather a necessity in every home,” says Aaron Khoo, Director of Sales, Netgear Australian and New Zealand.

“As people spend more time at home streaming for entertainment, education, work and to socialise, every household member has a well-defined need for super-fast, reliable wi-fi.

“In particular, mesh wi-fi has grown significantly in popularity, with consumers turning to its seamless connectivity and superior performance ensuring that there are no wi-fi dead zones in a home.

“At Netgear, we pride ourselves on bringing the most advanced technology to our customers, whether they’re looking to support the performance needs of their gigabit internet home or have greater capability to customise wi-fi settings for personalisation and optimisation of their network.

“We are leading the transition to Wi-Fi 6, the latest in wi-fi technology, with our new flagship Orbi Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Systems, designed to carry the increased load of working, streaming and gaming from home, while seamlessly ensuring the best performance and expanded reach throughout the entire home.

“Further to this, we are excited to bring our extensive mesh expertise to our popular Nighthawk brand, offering even more choice in the mesh segment.

“We are confident that these new products will deliver on the wireless networking demands of Australian households.”

The award-winning Netgear Orbi just got even better with Wi-Fi 6 to enable greater speeds and performance across even more devices.

The flagship Orbi RBK852 offers 12 wi-fi streams for larger homes and larger families with support for more than 60 connected devices which can operate simultaneously without interruption.

The Orbi RBK752 offers the same level of coverage but with 8 wi-fi streams so it can suit smaller households with support for more than 40 connected devices.

The tri-band Wi-Fi 6 coverage is achieved with the Orbi wireless router and one or two other satellite units with solid wireless coverage that can cover an area of up to 465sqm.

Both of the Netgear Orbi Wi-Fi 6 systems make use of a dedicated wireless backhaul, a technology Netgear established with the original Orbi, which provides a dedicated 5Ghz channel for data exchange between the router and satellites to reduce network congestion and allow devices to run faster on the network.

The RBK852 can support speeds of up to 2.5 Gigabit speeds while the RBK752 an achieve speeds up to 1 Gigabit.

There also LAN ports on the router so users can connected more wired products in home offices and home entertainment systems.

On the security side, there is Netgear Armor, powered by Bitdefender, on the Orbi Mesh Wi-Fi systems to protect all of your internet-connected devices. The system comes with a free 30-day trial and customers must purchase 12-month protection plans to retain the service.

NIGHTHAWK MESH WIFI 6 – $649 (MK63) and $449 (MK62)

The Nighthawk Mesh Wi-Fi 6 is a compact and affordable system for tech savvier users.

Available in two or three packs, the Nighthawk Mesh Wi-Fi 6 takes the Nighthawk brand known for its high performance gaming routers to even greater heights with mesh connectivity for improved coverage even in multi-level homes.

The Nighthawk Mesh Wi-Fi 6 can be set up in minutes using the Nighthawk app with users able to optimise the network through their smartphone.

The dual band system supports speeds of up to 1.8Gbps and also comes with two Gigabit Ethernet ports on the router and one each on the satellites.
