Mountain Lion most successful OS X release – 3 million downloads in 4 days

mountainlionthumb1Downloads of the new Mountain Lion operating system for Mac eclipsed three million copies in the first four days making it the most successful OS X release ever.

The ninth major release of the Apple’s OS X desktop operating system, Mountain Lion has more than 200 new features including iMessage, Notification Centre, Dictation, iCloud integration along with Reminders and Notes.

“Just a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

Part of the new Mountain Lion operating system is an increased integration with Twitter.

Apple says Facebook integration will be introduced to Mountain Lion in a future software update.

This update is likely to be available around the time iOS 6 is released.

iOS 6 for iPhone and iPad will also feature a more in-depth marriage with Facebook and sharing to the social networking site.
