Motorola’s new XOOM 2 available through Telstra today

Motorola has launched the XOOM 2 tablet which is available through Telstra from today either outright for $720 or on a 24-month contract starting at $49 a month.

The device has a 10.1-inch high definition screen which is covered in scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass and is powered by a 1.2Ghz dual core processor.

The XOOM 2 is running Android 3.2 operating system and will be upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

 There is a 1.2 megapixel on the front of the device and a 5 megapixel camera in the back which is capable of capturing high definition video.

Design-wise the XOOM 2 has been modified and now has special flattened edges to make it easier to hold.

One new feature on the XOOM 2 is MOTOPRINT which allows users to wirelessly print from the device and compatible apps

Onboard is 1GB of RAM and 32GB if internal storage with a microSD slot to allow users to add another 32GB.

The Motorola XOOM 2 is 253.9mm wide, 173.6mm long and only 8.8mm thick. The device weighs 603g which is more than 100g lighter than the original.
