Apple’s new iTunes Extras adds bonus content to downloaded movies

itunesextraApple has launched iTunes Extras which adds even more features to high definition movies purchased from iTunes like behind-the-scenes content and commentaries.

Available from today through Macs and PCs and Apple TV, iTunes Extras will give movie lovers access to added extras usually only available on the DVD or Blu-ray Disc version of a movie.

Now HD movies downloaded through iTunes Extra will include bonus content like behind-the-scenes videos, director commentaries, high resolution photo galleries, concept art and storyboards.

Another added feature of iTunes Extras movies is Scenes – which is an easier way to navigate the movie like chapters of a DVD or Blu-ray Disc movie.

Some of the movies and added content available from iTunes Extra include blockbusters like Thor: The Dark World, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, The Hangover III, Flight, Argo and classics like The Godfather.

The extras of each film is accessible online and streamed through your computer or Apple TV.

iTunes Extras has a library of high definition movies with added extras

For iTunes Extra users need to run Apple TV software version 6.2 – users can go into the settings and perform a software upgrade if necessary.

While in the settings of the Apple TV be sure that HD is selected. So go to Settings > iTunes Store > select HD.

You’ll also need iTunes version 11.3 and a Mac running OS X 10.9.3 and a PC running Windows 7.

Once these updates have been made iTunes Extras are automatically updateable if you’ve already purchased these HD movies from iTunes at no extra cost.
