Modern technology gives us many things.

Subscribers will get higher audio quality with the new Spotify HiFi streaming service

Spotify has announced a number of new features and updates during its Stream On virtual event including new creator tools, new exclusive podcasts and new service with upgraded sound quality called Spotify HiFi.

Spotify has also increased its international footprint and expanded into more than 80 new markets around the world and adding 36 languages to the platform.

One of the biggest announcements was the introduction of Spotify HiFi which will be offered to premium subscribers in select markets from later this year.

It will allow users to listen to their favourite music in the higher quality the creator intended.

Higher quality streaming has been one of the most requested features by subscribers.

Spotify HiFi will deliver CD-quality lossless audio to your device and Spotify Connect enabled speakers so music fans can hear more depth and clarity.

Spotify is also working with some of the world’s biggest speaker manufacturers to make Spotify HiFi accessible to as many listeners as possible through Spotify Connect.

International music star Billie Eilish was part of the Spotify stream and welcomed Spotify HiFi.

“High quality audio means just more info. There’s just things you don’t you will not hear if you don’t have a good sound system it is really important because we make music that wants to be heard the way that it was made,” she said.

Spotify has made some big announcements around podcasting.

This included the new Spotify Ad Studio which makes audio advertising on podcasts even more accessible to advertisers of all sizes so they can connect with engaged listeners at scale.

In the coming months Spotify will also begin testing the ability for creators to add video to their podcasts so they can complement their audio with images.

And Spotify has also announced a new podcast with two well-known figures that you normally wouldn’t place together in the same circles – former President Barack Obama and superstar musician Bruce Springsteen.

Their eight episode podcast series – entitled Renegades: Born in the USA – will explore topics like race, fatherhood, marriage and the future of America.

The first two episodes are available now for free and Premium Spotify users around the world now right here.
