Digital radio sales cross the one million mark in Australia

busheclipseDigital radio continues to thrive in Australia with sales of digital radio products crossing the one million mark on the back of strong third quarter sales.

94,655 digital radio products were sold in the third quarter of 2012 according to the GfK Marketscope report which takes the total number sold since the August 2009 digital radio launch to 1,002,966.

The third quarter (July to September) included Father’s Day which is believed to have contributed to higher sales.

According to the latest survey results, there are 1.336 million people listening to digital radio every week in the five state capitals.

TSL (Time Spent Listening) to digital radio via DAB+ device is 12 hours which is double the TSL to radio via the internet.

In Australia there are now more than 140 different DAB+ digital radio products on sale across more than 1000 retail outlets.

With Christmas just around the corner it is expected digital radio products will enjoy a strong fourth quarter in 2012.
