Amazon Prime launches in Australia with free and fast delivery


Amazon has just launched Amazon Prime in Australia which offers fast free delivery on millions of local and international items plus access to video streaming and e-book services.

The Amazon Prime membership program is already enjoyed by more than 100 million members around the world in 17 countries and now Australia has finally been included.

The biggest benefit for Australian Amazon Prime members will be free delivery on millions of items available from Australia and around the world.

Prime Expedited Delivery means nearly 90 per cent of all Australians will receive their package in two business days.

Customers can sign up here for a free 30 day trial and then join Prime for $6.99 a month or save 30 per cent with an annual payment of $59.

Australians can also take advantage of an introductory price of $4.99 a month.

“We hope that Australians will love free two business day delivery on products from Amazon Australia and free international delivery on products from Amazon US, all available to customers on,” says Jamil Ghani, Vice President, Prime International, Amazon.

“We are really proud to bring Australians the most extensive set of Prime benefits at launch for any country – ever.

This free fast delivery is available to customers in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart and Perth as well as regional cities including Shepparton, Toowoomba, Wagga, Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Gold Coast, Gosford and Newcastle.

Prime members in more remote locations will still receive free delivery but it will just take four or five days.

Prime membership also means customers will have access to more than four million products from the Amazon US store sold directly at with free delivery on orders over $US49.

Members will also have exclusive access to special shopping deals and will also be able to shop via voice on Alexa enabled devices.

But Amazon Prime is not just about free and fast shipping.

Membership also includes access to the Amazon Prime Video streaming service and Amazon Prime Reading where customers can enjoy access to more than 1,000 e-books.

Gamers can also benefit with access to Twitch Prime which offers free games every month and access to free in game content and currency.

Customers can also enjoy free release date delivery which means Prime-eligible products like video games including Red Dead Redemption II and Call of Duty Black Ops 4 can be delivered to you on the day of release.
