You can now get your hands on the Apple Watch and try it on – two weeks before release

From today customers can get up close to the Apple Watch in Apple Stores and even book an appointment for a fitting – two weeks before it goes on sale on April 24.

Apple Stores have been transformed across Australia to give customers a chance to see the company’s smartwatch along with all of the watchbands that go with it.

Display tables will showcase every combination of the Apple Watch, available in two sizes – 38mm and 42mm, under a glass panel.

Other stations in the store will have the Apple Watch on the tables for customers to interact with.

People will be able to experience the home screen, the digital crown and the secondary button while a screen beside the Apple Watch explains each of the features.

Next to each of the Apple Watch stations is a mat where customers can try on various styles of the watch.

At each table near these mats are drawers where staff have access with every available combination of Apple Watch and the various watchband styles.

Pre-orders for the Apple Watch began at 5.01pm today online.

Customers can choose the size, version and watchband style and choose to have it delivered by April 24 or to pick up in the Apple Store on launch day.

Apple Watch will work with iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

On board the Apple Watch is a heart rate monitor, and taptic feed back which can alert the user with a gentle nudge on their skin.

This is the first time Apple has made a device is not hidden away in your pocket or your bag but worn.

It’s for this reason that the company has taken the uncharacteristic move of allowing customers to get their hands on the device before it is officially released on April 24.
