The standard definition channel is dedicated to home shopping so don’t expect to see too many re-runs of Two and Half Men.
It’s wall-to-wall infomercials offering everything from jewellery and cooking utensils to air filters and lifestyle products.
According to Mumbrella, Extra will also feature brand funded-programming along with religious, community, educational and multi-cultural content.
“Direct Response advertising is proving to be one of more and more interest to our clients and by launching this new channel, Extra, we can provide advertisers with opportunities to specifically target their audience,” says Nine Network’s managing director Jeffrey Browne.
Extra can be located at Channel 94 in the eastern states of Australia and on Channel 84 in regional areas.
For those who can’t locate the channel on their digital TV, you’ll have to an auto scan of your digital channels before you can view the new Extra channel.
