Sydney chosen for Microsoft’s first flag-ship store outside of North America

Sydney’s popular Pitt Street Mall will become the site for Microsoft’s first flagship store outside of North America when it opens just in time for Christmas.

Located at the main entrance to Westfield Sydney mall and next to Sephora, the new Microsoft store will have more than 6,000 square feet of retail space over two floors.

The store will allow customers to experience the full breadth of Microsoft’s product offerings including Windows 8 PCs, Surface devices, Windows Phones and the Xbox One gaming console.

Also included in the new store will be an Answer Desk where customers can connect with experts for support and troubleshooting.

There will also be training workshops along with science, technology, engineering and mathematics education support.

The Sydney location is also the first Microsoft store of any description on the Asia Pacific region and demonstrates a real commitment to its Australian customers.

“Announcing a Microsoft flagship store in Sydney – which will join our forthcoming flagship Manhattan store – marks yet another important milestone in expanding our commitment to customers globally,” said David Porter, Microsoft’s corporate vice president, worldwide retail stores.

“We have built an online presence across 189 countries, and we will see aggressive online expansion over the next year in markets such as South Africa, Thailand and Korea including selling Microsoft hardware devices such as Surface and Xbox One.

“Additionally, we will open physical store locations across North America in the coming months. This continues to be an exciting time for our business, but more importantly, our customers – and we’re just getting started.”
