Optus launches new feature that can transcribe your mobile calls

Optus today launched a new feature called Optus Call Notes which gives users the ability to transcribe their mobile calls in real time.

Taking notes on a call can be difficult but necessary whether it’s a business call, a job interview or an important chat but now Optus Call Notes can give you a written transcript of the entire conversation.

Once the call is completed, the transcript can be viewed in the My Optus app.

The service is designed with security and privacy in mind with transcripts fully encrypted in transit and stored on a customer’s device for as long as they take to send it to the My Optus app.

Once viewed by the customer, the transcripts are deleted from all Optus systems immediately.

“With a simple voice command, Call Notes will take notes in real time, and store those conversations securely, making day to day tasks that little bit easier,” says Matt Williams, Optus managing director of marketing & revenue.

“Our vision at Optus is to become Australia’s most loved everyday brand with lasting customer relationships and with the introduction of Call Notes as part of the Optus Living Network, we are moving one step closer to achieving this vision by listening to our customers and solving one of their everyday problems.”

The service is a result of a partnership with technology company Sensory Inc who helped build the Optus Assistant and wake it up on command during a call.

Customers can just say “Hey Optus” to access the assistant and then say “take notes” to start the transcription.

Your conversation is the transformed to text using voice to text technology and looks like a text message conversation.

“Sensory is thrilled to be working with an innovative company like Optus,” says Todd Mozer, Sensory CEO.

“Working together we have implemented Sensory’s wake word technology to help create the ‘Hey Optus’ assistant, which will revolutionise what people can do in their phone calls.”

This feature will commence as part of a Beta trial and will be available to a limited number of selected Optus postpaid mobile customers.

The Optus Living Network includes Unlimited Data Day, Donate Your Data, Call Translate, Optus Pause, WiFi Secure, Game Path, Sidekick and now Call Notes, with more features to come.
