Latest wearable is a smart ring to control your home and devices

We’ve heard of smart TVs, smartwatches and smartphones but now there’s a smart ring – a device that can control other products with gesture.

Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the product is simply called Ring.

It looks like an oversized wedding ring that links to a central infrared hub via Bluetooth which in turn is connected to your home’s wi-fi network.

Once connected, Ring can make things happen with a single gesture.

It can be used to control devices at home like a TV or a lamp, take control of the camera and music player on your smartphone or tablet or a smartwatch or wearable device.

It can also be used as a game controller.

Users can program gestures through the Ring companion app which available for iPhone and Android.

For example, you might program a winding gesture to turn your music up or down or writing the letter T and V in the air to turn the TV on.

On the side of the ring is a small touch sensor that is used to signify you’re about to make a gesture.

It also provides a vibration alert and has a small white LED indicator light.

Ring is made of zinc and is available in four sizes – small, medium, large and extra large – and has an outer diameter of 29.3mm (small) all the way up to 35.6mm (large).

Ring, created by Japanese company Logbar, will be available in March.
