Nissan’s Juke NISMO RS lands in Australia – but you better get in quick

The Nissan SUV range has just been bolstered by another addition – the Juke NISMO RS – but you better get in quick, there are only 240 of these special editions available.

This is the third NISMO model that has been sold in Australia.

It joins the powerful Nissan GT-R NISMO which was launched last year and the Nissan 370Z NISMO which landed in Australia six months later.

And for those who don’t know, NISMO is short for Nissan Motorsport and identifies cars that all provide an exciting driving experience with aerodynamics and handling designed and developed from the racetrack.

The Nissan Juke NISMO RS includes an aero package featuring bespoke front and rear bumpers along with side skirts and a roof spoiler.

Drivers will also find a rear diffuser and signature red mirror caps and detail line.

It also has unique 10-spoke NISMO RS alloy wheels.

Inside the Nissan Juke NISMO RS has a black centre console and a carbon look finish on the head unit and gearshift surrounds.

The car also has a leather accented shift knob and leather and Alcantara steering wheel with red stitching and the iconic red centre mark.

And drivers will also enjoy the NISMO suede sport seats with red stitching.

“The NISMO brand and its range of cars are admired all over the world, we are delighted to offer small SUV buyers a NISMO option,” said Nissan Australia managing director Stephen Lester.

“The Juke NISMO RS has the increased power and torque expected of a NISMO model and a desire that is consistent with its NISMO siblings.

“With a devoted following, and with only 240 units available, we expect the Juke NISMO RS to attract a dedicated group of buyers.”

Under the hood of the Nissan Juke NISMO is a 1.6L turbocharged sequential high-pressure direct injection petrol engine which has been dynamically tuned to output 160 kW of power and 280Nm of torque for the six-speed manual option.

The transmission has an improved gear set and shorter final drive ratio which allows for faster acceleration.

There are also a strong list of standard safety features including front, front side and curtain airbags plus Lane Departure, Blind Spot Warning and the 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor with moving object detection.

Also on board is anti-lock braking, electronic brake force distribution and traction control.

On the tech side there is a 5.8-inch touchscreen display which is the gateway to your entertainment, navigation and climate control.

The system includes a digital radio and Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free control of your smartphone.

The Nissan Juke NISMO RS is on sale now and comes in three colours – Ivory Pearl, Pearl Black and Platinum.

Prices start at $37,790
