Sonos has just introduced a new connected wireless home theatre speaker called PLAYBASE that sits underneath your television to provide quality sound for your shows and movies.
The speaker was inspired by a simple statistic – 70 per cent of TVs are not wall mounted and rest on an entertainment unit.
With this in mind, the company went on to design PLAYBASE – a speaker that’s just 5.8cm tall and packed with 10 drivers.
Instead of taking up a lot of space in front of your TV like a soundbar, PLAYBASE has a smaller footprint and slides underneath the TV’s stand to give users great sound when watching TV and turns into a wireless music speaker when you’re not.
PLAYBASE is just as easy to set up as is to install. It just requires two cords – optical and power.
Onboard the PLAYBASE are six mid-range drivers, three tweeters and one woofer which are powered by software to provide superior audio output.
When you’re not watching TV, the PLAYBASE can also be used like the other speakers in the SONOS family.
This means PLAYBASE can be integrated into a multi-room system that can wirelessly stream your favourite music from services like Apple Music and Spotify.
Sonos owners can pre-order PLAYBASE from today on www.sonos.com.
It will be priced at $999 when it goes on sale globally on April 4.
