Samsung Gear S2 smartwatches available to buy from today

Samsung has announced the highly-anticipated new Gear S2 smartwatches will be available to purchase in Australia from today in Samsung Experience Stores in Sydney and Melbourne.

They will be available from a wider number of retailers in November.

The Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch has had a complete makeover with an all-new design, classic round watch face and modern styling.

It is Samsung’s first circular smartwatch and the 1.2-inch screen, which has a 360 x 360 resolution, can be customised with beautiful interfaces.

The device has a rotating bezel which also acts as a way to scroll through menus and zoom in and out of images and other onscreen content.

The new Samsung smartwatch is available in two options – The Gear S2 and the Gear S2 Classic.

The Gear S2 Classic has a black finish and matching black genuine leather band while the Gear S2 has more of a sporty on-the-go look.

Samsung’s new device is just 11.4mm thick and is running the Tizen operating system with a 1Ghz dual core processor under the hood.

The Gear S2 smartwatches will pair with any smartphone running Android 4.4 and above with a minimum of 1.5GB RAM and Bluetooth 4.0.

The device has both Bluetooth and wi-fi on board so it can stay connected even when it is not in range of the smartphone so you can still stay connected to your calendar and emails.

Users will also be able to send text messages from their wrist when it is connected to a compatible Android smartphone.

The Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic are priced at $499 and $599 respectively with watchbands also available between $59 and $89.
