Which new Optus plans let you stream your mobile content data-free

Optus has recognised the popularity among customers to stream movies, TV shows and music to their mobile devices and introduced new plans that will now make it all a data-free experience.

Selected Optus mobile and mobile broadband plans will now allow users to stream content to their devices without it impacting on their monthly data allowance.

Many customers are using SVOD (subscription video on demand) services on the move and averaging eight hours of content a week.

But watching an hour of video content every day can use more than 10GB of data per month.

“Our customers tell us they want the freedom to watch the latest TV show or listen to their favourite band, on the go,” says Tim Cowan, Optus head of mobile marketing.

“But we know that fear of using too much data is the biggest obstacle to making mobile streaming part of their daily entertainment habits.

“With Optus’ data-free Mobile TV streaming, customers can now stream to their heart’s content without the worry of what it means for their next bill.”

The Mobile TV package combines content from Netflix and Presto so subscribers to those services can stream their programs data free.

New and existing Optus customers on selected consumer and SMB My Plan Plus and My Mobile Broadband Plus plans can stream all of the Netflix and Presto content they like in standard definition for $10 extra per month.

Data-free streaming of Netflix and Presto on some selected mobile and mobile broadband plans – the $100 and $120 My Plan Plus plans – will be included at no extra cost.

And music will also be offered data-free on selected plans when streaming music from services like Spotify, iHeartRadio, Google Play Music and Pandora.
