Amazon has unveiled an all-new Kindle Paperwhite ereader which now has a thinner and lighter design along with an IPX8 waterproof rating so you can take your reading anywhere.

Also onboard the new Kindle Paperwhite is twice the storage space of the previous model.

Priced from $199 and set for a November 7 release date, the Kindle Paperwhite has a slick flush front design with a soft and grippable rear panel.

The device has a 6-inch glare-free 300ppi (pixels per inch) display and is just 8.18mm thick and weighs just 182g.

The screen can display crisp, sharp text like you’d see on a printed page with readers able to select the font size and style.

This is the first ever waterproof Kindle Paperwhite so users can have peace of mind they can read their books and comics in the bath, by the pool, in the spa or on the beach.

“Customers love the Kindle Paperwhite, and we’re excited to bring premium features—like a thinner and lighter flush-front design, additional storage and IPX8 waterproofing —to our most popular Kindle,” said Kevin Keith, Vice President, Amazon Devices.

“With the all-new Kindle Paperwhite, it’s never been easier to get lost in a story no matter where you go.”

Users can expect the same reading features on the new Kindle Paperwhite including WhisperSync and WhisperSync for Voice which can remember your last reading spots across all Kindle devices.
And the device is not only your book – it is also the Kindle Store which offers fast and easy access to the latest and favourite titles.

There are millions of books available in all categories including the latest bestsellers and Kindle exclusives.

The Kindle Paperwhite is available now for pre-order and is priced at $199 (8GB) and $249 (32GB).

There is another Kindle Paperwhite version with 32GB and cellular connectivity for $369.

They are available for pre-order now with an in-store date of November 7 from amazon.com.au, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys and Myer.
