Canon Australia has just unveiled the new mirror-less camera the EOS RP – the company’s smallest and lightest full frame digital interchangeable lens camera to date.

The EOS RP designed for advanced amateurs and enthusiasts and is the perfect size for travel, landscape and portrait photography and videography.

It is the latest device in the new EOS R system which combines ease-of-use and amazing image and video quality in one.

The EOS RP will work with Canon’s full portfolio of EF and EF-S lenses.

Speaking of lenses, Canon has also announced the new RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM, an all-purpose lens that is an ideal companion because of its manageable size and performance.

It provides an amazing range of focal lengths for capturing incredible shots.

The EOS RP is an affordable and feature packed camera in the Canon full-frame line-up with full frame optical performance.

It has a 26.2-megapixel full frame CMOS sensor along with Canon’s latest DIGIC 8 processor which provides a great balance of detail, control over depth of field and amazing lowlight performance.

The EOS RP offers CR3 14-bit RAW file format as well as a compact RAW option to save up to 40 per cent on the file size of standard RAW files.

The body weighs in at just 485g and is built around a magnesium alloy chassis and high precision outer body parts with sealing materials to keep out dust and moisture.

There is also a powerful dual sensing IS system they can take the shakes out of your handheld photography.

On the back is a high resolution 7.5cm Vari-Angle touchscreen as well as a 0.39-type OLED electronic viewfinder.

Shooting and sharing is made a lot easier thanks to the smart Bluetooth and wi-fi connectivity.

It’s possible to control the camera from your smart phone to shoot pictures or video remotely via wi-fi.

The Canon Connect App also offers full control over your camera settings, provides alive you and the option to wake up the camera over Bluetooth.

You can also automatically synchronise images to your mobile device from the camera.

On the video side, the EOS RP also offers a great solution and allows users to capture movies in up to 4K resolution at 25fps and full high-definition at 60fps.

The Canon EOS RP will go on sale on February 27. Pricing will be at the dealer’s discretion.
