Alcatel unveils a smartwatch for kids and two more affordable smartphones

Alcatel has further enhanced its reputation of creating high quality products at affordable prices after revealing two new smartphones and a connected smartwatch designed for kids at the IFA tech trade show in Berlin.

The new Alcatel products include MOVETIME Family Watch, the Idol 5S and A7 smartphones which will be released in early 2018.

“Our releases announced today at IFA prove once again that premium and innovative technology can be met with affordability and accessibility,” said Sam Skontos, VP and Regional Managing Director, Alcatel South-East Asia and Pacific.

“The MOVETIME Family Watch is a particularly exciting addition for us, as we move further into the wearables space. It provides the independence kids crave with the peace of mind parents need, all delivered in a fun, intuitive and affordable smart watch that we can’t wait to bring to Australia and New Zealand.”

ALCATEL MOVETIME FAMILY WATCH – $149

The MOVETIME is a 3G smartwatch for kids that allows them to message or call their parents.

An SOS button on the watch can also initiate a call for help in the event of an emergency

The device can be used for location tracking to see where the child is at all times.

It’s also possible to set up a geo-fence which will alert the parent when their child has left a specified area.

MOVETIME has fun features like changeable watch faces and a colourful design while the touchscreen is child-friendly and gives them access to built-in games.

It is also robust and waterproof with an IP67 rating and the 450mAh battery will run for two days before it needs recharging.

MOVETIME will be available in Australia in early 2018.

ALCATEL A7 – $299

The A7 has a sleek design and modern look and features a 5.5-inch display as well as a range of premium finishes.

Also onboard is a 16-megapixel camera with a wide f/20 aperture and phase detection auto-focus so you’ll never miss a moment.

The A7 has also got you covered for quality selfies and video calls through the front-facing 8-megapixel camera.

Under the hood is a 4000mAh battery with fast charging support and Cat6 4G LTE connectivity so its super-fast on the latest Australian networks.

It’s powered by an octa-core processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

It will be available in early 2018.

IDOL 5S – $349

The Idol 5S has a premium look and feel without the premium price. It has a 7.5mm metal unibody with a 5.2-inch display wrapped in 2.5D curved glass.

It has dual front facing speakers so you can enjoy your music or movie while the customisable Now key can be used to instantly launch your favourite app, task or function.

On the camera side, the Idol 5S has a 12-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera with flash.

You can also have some fun with your images with Cinemographs which allows you to add movement to your stills.

The Alcatel Idol 5S will land in Australia in early 2018.
